General characteristics of the species

Bone migratory fish. Fusiform body and slightly compressed laterally. The second dorsal fin is higher than the first. The moderately long pectoral fins reach the second dorsal but never the end of its base. The dorsal, anal and pinula fins are bright yellow. The belly is usually crossed by about 20 dark and broken bands arranged almost vertically. It can reach a total length of up to approximately 208 cm.
