General characteristics of the species
Bone fish. Oval, tall, compressed body with small, hard scales. Small mouth and gill openings reduced to a small opening above the pectoral fins. It has no pelvic fins. It presents a thick spine inside the abdomen. Yellowish gray in color, darker on the back with numerous white dots. The fins are bluish with dark spots. It can reach a total length of up to 50 cm.
