General characteristics of the species
Bone fish. It has a large mouth with thick lips. Males have a brown head and back with blue lines and bands. The belly is orange. In females, the dorsum and flank are orange with a yellowish white belly, with three black spots on the dorsum (2 at the base of the dorsal fin and 1 on the caudal peduncle). It can reach a total length of up to about 40 cm.
