General characteristics of the species
Bone fish, demersal (between 0 and 700m deep). The head is relatively small and the eyes are large. It has a bright red-orange color, more intense in the head area, on the back and fins. The belly is silvery white. It has a large black spot at the beginning of the lateral line. Depending on its size, it can be referred to as sea bream, big fish or horse mackerel. It can reach a total length of up to about 60 cm.
