General characteristics of the species
Bone fish. Wide, fusiform body, covered with small scales. Winding lateral line. The dorsal fins are very close to each other. The second dorsal and anal fins are followed by 8 pinules. The caudal peduncle has a central keel on each side. Bright blue-gray in color on the back and whitish on the belly. The back has about 8 to 10 black longitudinal lines. It can reach a total length of up to about 90 cm.
