Habitat: o rabilo vive nas águas superficiais do oceano aberto, e ocasionalmente associado a montes submarinos e a zonas costeiras à volta das ilhas. Este grande migrador ocorre nos Açores durante todo o ano.

Biologia: o tamanho máximo registado para a espécie é de 300 cm (560 kg). A idade máxima registada para a espécie é de 20 anos.

Estatuto de conservação: especie de ocorrência irregular na região, cujo estado do manancial é considerado preocupante, estando classificada pela IUCN para o Atlântico Norte. O tamanho mínimo comercial desta espécie é de 70 cm ou 6.4 kg.

Habitat: the Bluefin tuna occurs mostly offshore, around seamounts, and occasionally inshore. This is a highly migratory species that may occur in the Azores throughout the year.
