Habitat: the John dory occurs along coastal areas or around shallow seamounts and at depths of up to 400 m.
Principal fishing methods: handline and bottom longline.
Biology: the John dory may reach a maximum reported size of 90 cm (8 kg). This species is expected to have a minimum population doubling time of 4.5 to 14 years and a maximum reported age of 12 years.
Conservation status: local stocks appear to be healthy, but it is a species not well studied.
